Suffield Meet and Next Week's Meet vs. Wilbraham
Track parents-
For the first time since we started doing regular Saturday meets in 2016, we canceled a meet for weather. Good luck only lasts so long.
Suffield Meet
On Thursday, the middle schoolers ran against Suffield, Ellington, and Plainfield middle schools. The kids had a good time, and the highlights included Evan Lyons' breakout performance in the mile and 800, winning both events against good competition. Evan qualified for the June 1 middle school state meet in both events. Ada Grant qualified for the state meet in the mile, and David Prickett qualifed for the state meet and placed first in the shot put.
Other notables were Charlotte Menella winning the shot put, and Nate Morrin and Felcite Neveu winning their hurdles events. And perhaps the most exciting event was last, with our 4 x 400m boys relay team winning by a comfortable margin as the sun began to set.
Results are posted on the website, and check out the Middle School tab for more information about the state meet qualifying standards and our other upcoming middle school meets, including the May 11 Bement Invitational.
May 4 Meet vs. Wilbraham
Next Saturday, we will host Wilbraham at LHS at 9 am. Wilbraham has a youth program like ours, and we will be competing, as usual, by age groups. Athletes placing 1-4 will receive ribbons in their events.
Sign-up will be open, as usual, on the website, longmeadowtrack.org, Sunday night through Wednesday evening at 7 pm.
